FIFO - Flow-through rack systems

The goods are stored on conveyor rollers and move to the retrieval point under force of gravity alone, without any other source of energy. Rollex achieves this by using flow-through racks.

First In - First Out. - distinct advantages

• Simplified monitoring of eat-by dates
• No EDP control system, the principle runs on its own
• Short operator distances for order picking (goods to operator)
• Space saving in comparison to other storage systems
• Optimum use of shelf space
• The physical separation of replenishment and retrieval optimises the sequence of operations and the use of space.
• Permanently high rate of restocking on the retrieval side; goods move themselves

LIFO - Plug-in rack systems

Plug-in rack systems operate on the LIFO principle. The goods that were put into store last are removed first.

Advantages of LIFO principle

• optimum space utilisation
• Storing and retrieval take place from the same location. The backs of the shelving system can therefore be against the wall.
